Gone Golfing: Volunteering to Support the Humane Society

Posted by Chelsea England on September 11, 2015

For the past two years, we have had the privilege of volunteering our time and donations to the Humane Society of Catawba County. A few weeks ago, however, we were able to volunteer at the 14th Annual Bud Lofland Golf Classic at Rock Barn Golf & Spa. This was an experience with the Humane Society that we had yet to experience. We got to see how the entire community rallied around to support this fundraiser! There were so many volunteers running around to make sure everything went off without a hitch and it did. Every one of the volunteers had their own part to play to make the event such a well-oiled machine.

Our part was running a beverage station. At this station we were able to greet the golfers as they were making their way around the golf course and provided them with a drink to cool down. We were not the only faces they were able to see; we got to spend time with Kip and Bowman (Kip pictured in the center, Bowman on the left and right), who were greeting them with smiles and tail wags. I think the golfers cared more about seeing the dogs more than they cared about the refreshments. That is what this event was all about. We loved spending the afternoon with two awesome dogs and we loved that we got to be a part of such a great event! (We even got to take a few swings ourselves!)
